Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best known for portraying detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue in which she was awarded the Emmy Award. She is also known for her performances in the drama All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney has a father who was an executive from the United Auto Workers who was also the mother of her children. Delaney has four older brothers. Although she was a child with a goal of becoming journalist, it was not until her high school years when Delaney started modeling. Following her move from New York City and gaining experiences as a commercial model at New York did she achieve the career as aspiring court reporters. Her first role as an actor came as a young girl in the 1981 soap opera All My Children. Delaney, a young actress who was in her 20s, appeared in several films TV movies and in dramas. She has not had a successful or happy personal life. The talented actress struggled to overcome the effects of alcohol and two marriages fail. In 2005, she was denied custody of the sole child she was born with.
